So, I thought it would be fun to compile a list of some of our favorites-these are really good books to read to kids. They will love them and so will you! The book also explains the concept of courage to a really young child. With wonderful illustrations accompanying the hilarious text, Ladybug Girl is one of my favorite picture books. It has a couple of heart-wrenching sections one where the hobo Edward is with is treated meanly, and another where his little girl owner dies. It's a favorite of my students' and a great book to start or end a chaoter of the alphabet!

Riding Freedom would show life in the past and it is about a girl who runs away from an orphanage and learns to drive for a stage coach company. As a finale, and I fabric-paint their des. I will have to check them out. Peter and the Starcatchers is a great one.

And this one has a movie to watch after it too? I liked this book but it is a little on the abstract side for a young child. My most highly recommended book on this list. A great book that teaches a lot of history but also a great deal about empathy and why we should be eternally grateful for what we have.

This Caldecott Honor book presents an understated retelling of the Grimm classic. But the little witch finds out that she likes being a good witch much better. I look forward to getting into all these adventures soon. The books are also very nice and short chapter books, so it works out very well.
