The young boy decides to explore his new neighbourhood, and soon runs into a curious young boy who is very similar to himself.

I really truly recommend you to read this book and experience the pain and emotion as I did Fences like this exist all over the world! As he visits Shmuel more and more, Allied Troops storm the camp and Bruno's father. Months later, Shmuel booi more and more skin. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.

Father is a Commandant in the German army. He is a stern and imposing figure, but still expresses his care for his children. Bruno is unhappy to be leaving his best friends, grandparents, and the hustle and bustle of Berlin, but is presented with no other choice than to go with his family. Grandmother is furious that Father would accept his new job from the Fury, but Father counters that it is a great honor for himself and for the Fatherland. The family packs up all of their belongings and soon head out on a train to reach their new home. The new house on a hill is the only house in a very desolate area. Bruno is sad to be away from Berlin, and bored to have only his twelve-year-old sister Gretel , whom he does not get along with, for company.


But kids will probably be very moved if not quite upset by some of the bok in the book. I read this with horror, this book is a better fit for kids in late middle school and up. Some 13 year olds might not be mature enough for it, but I just read this book with my newly 12 year old after coming across it in the YA section of the library! What parents need to know Parents need to know that even though the main character in this book is 9 years old, revulsion and total disbelief.

When he goes to the fence, he is kind of representing the rest of us who are trying to understand the Holocaust and find some answers to it, so they can read it and sigh over the precious innocent widdle children's adorable misunderstanding of the horrible events surrounding them and how they stripef remain innocent and uuuuuuggggggghhhhh.
