Mindful Teacher, Mindful School provides an interesting introduction to the practice of mindfulness and how it could work in a school-based context. I like that it considers the role of mindfulness for both teachers and students, and gives examples of how it could be used. He first started teaching mindfulness awareness to students, teachers and parents in and founded Mindwell, which supports education communities to develop wellbeing through mindfulness and social-emotional learning, in Hawkins has a three-stage approach to mindfulness — be mindful, teach mindfully and teach mindfulness. These principles form the main body of the book, while an introductory chapter explores why mindfulness is needed, an overview of what it is and what it can do, before summarising the three principles. After exploring each of these principles in more depth, the book considers mindfulness and its place in the context of wellbeing, culture and the wider world.

I like that it considers the role of mindfulness for both teavhing and students, how teachers think and feel about change appears to be developmental! For all involved with assessment or internal quality assurance whether you are a novice just starting out or an old hand who wants CPD and upgrade their knowledge. Comparisons of inquiry as it is carried out by scientist and by students - such as the comparison in Chapter 1 - can begin to build a case for teaching and learning through inquiry. If I had engaged in this way, it may have enriched my schoole of the book and might give elarning a sense of where mindfulness can sit in their own context, and gives examples of how it could be used.
Although the book contains many practical examples, it is more than a cookbook on how to teach. In summary, the book examines the underlying principles that guide effective teaching in an age when everyone, and in particular the students we are teaching, are using technology. For that to happen, though, your students need you to be on top of your game. This book is your coach. The audience I am reaching out for are primarily college and university instructors anxious to improve their teaching or facing major challenges in the classroom, such as very large numbers of students or rapidly changing curricula, and also to many school teachers, particularly in secondary or high schools anxious to ensure their students are ready for either post-secondary education or a rapidly changing and highly uncertain job market. In particular the book is aimed at teachers and instructors anxious to make the best use of technology for teaching.
